In four seasons with the club Ridenton has played 46 times and has also popped up with some crucial goals from midfield. Signed midway through his final year at St Kentigan College, aged just 17, Ridenton went on to star for New Zealand at the 2013 U17 World Cup and made his All Whites debut after 13 senior appearances in his first season. Capped U17, U20 and as a full international, the midfielder who filled in at right back last term is a leader within the side and a great role model for young players looking to make it as a professional. Ridenton currently combines his football career with part-time study through Massey University.
Ridenton departs Phoenix
The Wellington Phoenix advise that midfielder, Matthew Ridenton, will be departing the club to take up another opportunity with the Newcastle Jets. Signing his first contract in 2013, Matt went on to play a total of 72 Hyundai A-League games, scoring four goals for Wellington.
