Wellington Phoenix coach Ufuk Talay says while the injuries put additional pressure on the rest of the squad, he believes they are up to the task.

“Obviously we have a several injury concerns at the moment with the squad, which doesn’t help with the squad depth, especially with the run of games that we have coming up,” says Talay.

“It puts a lot of pressure on the other players to perform game after game – so we’re going to have to push through it, and we’ll try and manage the players through these games as best we can.

“I have faith in the squad we have and believe the rest of the players are ready to step up and perform – and the signing of Charles [Lokoli-Ngoy] helps us with our depth up front too.”

The Wellington Phoenix take on the Western Sydney Wanderers on Sunday 21 February, 6.10pm AEDT at WIN Stadium in Wollongong in a battle for the Sister Cities Shield.
