On Sunday 7 March at 1pm, the Wollongong Wolves take on Manly United in the NPL curtain-raiser match at WIN Stadium; in what will be the Wolves first home match of the season. This will be followed by Wellington Phoenix facing off against A-League rivals Perth Glory from 4pm, with the Phoenix unveiling their ‘Wollongong Strip’ playing kit for the first time in this match.

Fans will also be able to watch both matches at WIN Stadium for the price of a single ticket, with the Nix offering some of the most cost-effective single match tickets in the A-League – with child tickets starting from $8 and adults from $12.

Wellington Phoenix forward, David Ball, says that he hopes the double-header will get a solid turnout on Sunday.

“If we can get the crowd going and get that atmosphere we need at football games – that obviously we miss having – it really helps the lads on the team, it gives us pure adrenalin.”

The sentiment is shared by Ben Waine, who – along with Ball – scored for the Phoenix during Sunday’s 2-0 win against the Newcastle Jets.

“Wollongong is our home for the rest of the season, so it’s good to show support to the local Wolves team; we’ve seen them, they’re a decent team – so we’ll support them and hopefully the fans will support us in turn,” says Waine.

“It does make a difference, also with having our Mexican fans there too, it’s unbelievable.”

Wollongong Wolves coach, Luke Wilkshire, predicts that it will be a great day of football for all.

“This is a great opportunity for football fans in Wollongong to come and watch two high quality games in this region,” says Wilkshire.

“This will be the first time that the Wollongong community can see the Wolves and the Phoenix play on the same day, it’ll be a good event for the family at a great venue so I’m keen to see the wider Wollongong community come down and support us.

“And it’s important for us to have the Phoenix based in Wollongong, and a good opportunity for this region to show that we can sustain and support A-League football – especially if it’s something we want to have here in the future.”

The Wellington Phoenix / Wollongong Wolves double-header kicks off from 1pm on Sunday 7 March 2021 at Win Stadium in Wollongong; tickets are available now at www.ticketmaster.com.au

As an extra incentive, the Wellington Phoenix is also offering a one-off prize for any fan who purchases tickets to the Sunday match; a $500 New Balance Prize Bundle, which includes a pair of New Balance Furon football boots, signed by the 2020/21 Phoenix squad. The prize winner will be announced at WIN Stadium on the night of the match.
