Team Wellington Triumph Over Phoenix A

Team Wellington shrugged off their ASB Championship blues with a well-deserved 4-0 win over Phoenix A at Dave Farrington Park tonight.

Struggling to find form in the league, tonight-s performance will have restored some confidence to Team Wellington as they moved the ball well against a disappointing Phoenix A side.

Henry Fa-arodo gave Team Wellington the lead in the 28th minute with a cool finish after being set up by a lovely through ball from Phoenix Football School of Excellence player Justin Gulley.

It was another member of the FSE that increased Team Wellington-s lead before halftime with Tobias Berscht scoring with a superb header from a Cory Chettleburgh free-kick.

Phoenix A improved a little in the second spell but it was Team Wellington that increased its lead in the 78th minute with Fa-arodo showing a lovely touch to control a long ball and slip it between the legs of goalkeeper Griffin McMaster.

Chettleburgh completed the scoring in the closing minutes with a well-taken penalty kick.

Phoenix A coach Chris Greenacre, who played for the last few minutes, was unhappy with the way his team performed.

“From an individual point of view there will be some players very disappointed with their performance,” Greenacre said.

“Team Wellington were first to every ball because we just weren-t there tonight.”
