Phoenix Stocks Continue To Rise

The Wellington Phoenix Football Club is continuing to grow both on and off the field, with the foundations of a strong commercial base taking shape as the club prepares to celebrate their 10-year anniversary season in 2016/17.

Last week Huawei announced the largest sponsorship deal in NZ Football history, and this week the club has added Fullerton Markets as a premier corporate partner.  Fullerton markets is a leading New Zealand based Online Financial brokerage firm.

Buoyed by the extension of their A-League license in late February, Head of Commercial Nathan Godfrey was quick to highlight the positive direction the club is heading.

“The game of Football has global reach, our sponsors are starting to realise the value of an association with the Phoenix brand,” Godfrey said.

The 2-year sponsorship deal will see the Fullerton Markets brand displayed on Head Coach Ernie Merrick’s uniform – chest, arm, and collar – and will include inner sanctum experiences for some of Fullerton Markets clients.

Fullerton Markets CEO Mario Singh shared his thoughts.

“We are delighted to sponsor Phoenix for the next two years. Building a great brand takes hard work, commitment and discipline,” Singh said. “Everyone at the Phoenix resonates these strong qualities. With this partnership, we hope to build upon the strong work ethic of both sides and add tremendous value to each other.”

Asked how football and trading are seen in the same light, Mario had this to say: “In football, you make long and short passes. Sometimes you attack, sometimes you defend. It’s the same with trading. Ultimately, the main goal of a trader or footballer is the same: they play to win.”
