Phoenix Community Programs ramp up ahead of Christmas break

Wellington Phoenix are proud to announce a significant expansion of its community engagement program with staff and players working harder than ever to reach out to schools and grassroots teams across the Wellington region.

Across the last three months Phoenix players have spent almost 250 hours visiting schools and club teams consisting of both boys and girls, with children enjoying question and answer sessions, some skills drills and games, with spot prizes and giveaways such as tickets and merchandise.

Thanks to a generous endowment from the Lloyd Morrison Trust, children from low decile schools have also enjoyed match day experiences with tickets and transport provided to Wellington Phoenix home matches at Westpac Stadium. Over 500 children from decile 1-3 schools so far have enjoyed a very special day out, with thousands more enjoying classroom visits as part of an initiative to promote healthy lifestyles and encouraging youth participation in sport.

As New Zealand’s only professional football club the Wellington Phoenix take great pride in representing the Wellington region and look to continue the work of better connecting with local schools and football clubs in coming seasons.
