David Dome-s passion for the Wellington Phoenix was rewarded today when he was appointed the club-s General Manager.

In announcing Dome-s appointment, Welnix chairman Rob Morrison said the owners had interviewed a quality field of applicants for the position and that it was Dome-s passion that set him apart from the rest.

“His passion for the club was the key,” Morrison said.

“That sold us, and we know what he is capable of because he has done a fantastic job as an interim General Manager and shown great loyalty.

“David has a desire to develop the club along with the ownership group which is important.

“Our objective is to grow the club; to make it multi-faceted. David has bought into that. We look forward to working with him.”

Dome, the club-s Marketing Manager for the past four years, said it was an honour to be given the role.

“The new ownership group has some exciting plans to develop this club into something truly exceptional,” he said.

“I believe the Wellington Phoenix can be a model not only for professional sport in New Zealand and Australia, but also an example of how a football club can be run that many people across the world will take note of.”

It was also announced today that Alex Brandon has been appointed Commercial Manager, effective immediately.

Brandon comes to the Wellington Phoenix with a wealth of senior management experience.

He was General Manager of Just Kids and Chief Executive Officer of Trelise Cooper, both based in Auckland, and has also held senior management positions in London and New York.
