Partnership worth banking on

WESTPAC New Zealand Limited has joined forces with Wellington Phoenix FC as the club’s official community partner.

WESTPAC New Zealand Limited has joined forces with Wellington Phoenix FC as the club-s official community partner.

Westpac New Zealand is one of the country-s largest full service banks, with more than 1.2 million customers nationwide.

The partnership of Westpac and the Phoenix will see the two organisations work together to establish, promote and support a wide range of community initiatives in the greater Wellington region.

“Westpac will help us as a club to reach out and connect with even more members of the community than we do currently,” said Phoenix chief executive Nathan Greenham.

“Together we will be able to be much more involved in the good things happening in our region, not only from a football perspective but also in a whole raft of other ways. Whether we-re visiting schools, attending charity fundraising events or helping schools on beach clean-up programmes, there are some really different and exciting ways we-re working on with Westpac to get out and about in the community.”

Westpac will also host large groups of people from a variety of community organisations at Phoenix-s home games at Westpac Stadium throughout the Hyundai A-League 2010/11 season.

Greenham said the club had built a strong community profile since its inception in 2007.

“We-ve always done a good job of engaging with the community but we truly believe as a club that it-s time to take things up a notch. What-s happening with the Phoenix and football in New Zealand at the moment really provides us with the vehicle to be involved in the community.

“But we want to take our involvement in the community further than that, beyond simply football, and with Westpac we-ll involved in some really exciting things.”
