The Wellington Phoenix are close to completing the signing of All Whites midfielder Michael McGlinchey.

The Central Coast Mariners have announced they have reached agreement with McGlinchey on a mutual termination of his contract with the club.

Wellington Phoenix General Manager David Dome welcomed the agreement and said a contract between McGlinchey and the Phoenix had been sent to the FFA for ratification.

“Following on from the announcement last night from the Central Coast Mariners on a mutual termination with Michael McGlinchey, the Wellington Phoenix has submitted a contract for the player which is subject to approval by FFA and FIFA,” Dome said.

“The Club is thrilled that the way has been cleared for the player to sign for the Phoenix.

“With Michael’s addition the quality of the squad Ernie has assembled is without parallel in the history of this Club.

“With this closure and our squad now full, everyone at the Club cannot wait for the season to start”

The Wellington Phoenix will submit the player’s contract to FFA today and pending approval by FIFA McGlinchey will officially be a Phoenix player.
