Appiah was born in New Zealand, but moved to Australia at a young age and was one of Tony Popovic’s first signings for the Western Sydney Wanderers. He played in the Asian Champions League final (which the Wanderers won) and also won the National Youth League title with the Central Coast Mariners, and an A-League minor premiership with Western Sydney.
He joined the Phoenix at the back end of last season and impressed with his pace and skill in the attacking third. He’s been in excellent goal-scoring form in the pre-season campaign.
