The countdown is almost over for All Whites defender Winston Reid.
The athletic defender and his West Ham United team-mates will board a plane for New Zealand on Friday (NZ time) for next week’s Football United Tour.
Reid and the Hammers will play against the Phoenix in Auckland on July 23, then Sydney FC in Wellington on July 26.
Reid left Auckland 14 years ago but told West Ham’s website he still has family and friends there and has spent time with Kiwi film crews in recent weeks.
“It’s been nice to speak with journalists from back home instead of West Ham TV, so it’s been great,” Reid joked.
