Finals Series 101 | All you need to know

The Hyundai Finals Series starts on 1 May with three weeks of matches. Here’s all you need to know about how it works, where the Phoenix could end up and ticketing.

Sunday 26 April is Round 27 of the Hyundai A-League at Westpac Stadium. The Phoenix play Sydney FC at 5pm in a match rescheduled from 8 January 2015. Tickets printed with this date on it will work on Sunday. Get your tickets here: http://premier.ticketek.co.nz/shows/Show.aspx?sh=PHOENIXH15

A finish in the top two is important. History shows that no team outside the top 2 as at the end of the regular season has won the A-League.

Statistically, the second placed team has a 70% chance of winning the A-League

In season 2009-10, the Wellington Phoenix had two elimination finals, getting 24,267 and 32,792 at Westpac Stadium.

In elimination final 1 in season 2009-10, the Wellington Phoenix beat Perth Glory 4-2 in a dramatic penalty shoot-out.

In elimination final 2 in season 2009-10, the Wellington Phoenix beat Newcastle Jets 3-1, with Paul Ifill (105 mins) and Eugene Dadi (115 mins) scoring in extra time

FINALS 101:

At the end of the regular season (Sunday 26 April) the top 2 teams on ladder miss the first week and go straight through to the Semi-Finals on 8 May and 10 May.

Week 1, Elimination Finals May 1-3 : made up of teams who finished in positions 3 through 6 (3 v 6, 4 v 5). Losers in first week are eliminated from the Finals Series.
Week 2, May 8-10 Semi Finals : Melbourne Victory (first placed team) play the lowest placed team in the regular season who won in the Elimination Finals.
Week 2, May 8-10 Semi Finals : The second placed team as at the end of the regular season plays the highest placed team at the end of the regular season who won in the Elimination Finals.
Week 3, May 17 Finals: Two winners of the Semi Finals meet in the Grand Final on 17 May

Detailed ticketing information will be listed on www.prod.wellingtonphoenix.aleagues.com.au at the conclusion of the regular season on Sunday 26 April.

Wellington Phoenix Season Ticket holders and Members will be sent an email on Sunday 26 April at the conclusion of the regular season detailing the process to purchase tickets.

On Sale Dates –

Tuesday 28 April 9am-4pm – Members Exclusive on sale. Phoenix Members will have the option to purchase their membership seat during this window.

Tuesday 28 April 8pm – Wednesday 29 April 12pm – Football Family on sale (password protected).

Wednesday 29 April 1pm – General Public On sale.

Members will need your membership barcode number to purchase tickets for our home finals match. Your barcode number can be located on the reverse of your membership card.

Final Four members, Nix Six flexi pass holders and Club Members will be sent a password to allow you to book.

Gold – $45 Adult, $30 Concession, $15 Child, $99 Family (2 adults, 2 children)

Silver (including Yellow Fever and Away Supporters bays) – $35 Adult, $20 Concession, $10 Child, $75 Family (2 adults, 2 children)
