Sigmund joined the club from New Zealand’s national league in 2008 and has become not just a regular in the side but a stand-out. He won consecutive player of the year awards in 2010/11 and 2011/12 and has formed a solid central defensive partnership with Andrew Durante. He’s hardly missed a match in the past five seasons, while also chipping in with vital goals, often from set pieces. He retired from international football at the beginning of this year, having played 32 internationals for the All Whites.
Sigmund is the epitome of no-nonsense defending, wholehearted commitment and a never-say-die attitude.
