Andrew Durante has been the skipper of the Wellington Phoenix since his arrival in 2008. If ever a player has led by example on and off the field, it’s him. He very rarely misses a game and has now played 182 times for the Phoenix, and 246 A-League games in all, a tally bettered by just one player in the entire history of the competition.
The hallmarks of his game are perfectly timed tackles, last-ditch interventions, excellent aerial ability and legendary consistency; he basically never misses a game.
Durante has also played nine times for New Zealand and is one of the best defenders in the history of the A-League.
