10,000 Tickets Gone For Eden Park

10,000 tickets have been snapped up for the Phoenix’s Round 10 Hyundai A-League match against Central Coast at Eden Park this Saturday.

While Wellington Phoenix General Manager David Dome said the Club was comfortable with the number of pre-sales it is slightly behind where the Club wanted to be.

“10,000 is a good pre-sale number but slightly behind where we were same time last year when we got 18,000.

“The Board are scrutinising this game closely to see what numbers we get – a poor crowd may see the Auckland match become a one in two year event.”

Encouragingly, a large Fijian community is expected to attend to support the first Fijian to play in the A-League, Roy Krishna.

“We’re hearing from our contacts in the Fijian community that a large support base for Roy is expected” Dome said.

“This will be fantastic and we’re looking forward to putting on a great show for them.”

Dome is encouraging fans to pre-buy to avoid frustrating queues and delays on the day.

“Our warning to all fans is to please buy tickets early and ideally pre-buy – tickets are much cheaper on pre-purchase than at the gate.

“It’s very difficult to process large walk up crowds quickly – so pre-buy and then just walk in on the day.

“There’s an ASB Premiership match curtain raiser with Phoenix Premiers taking on WaiBop which kicks off at 2.15pm, so the idea is get there early and get value for money.

“We’ve made it as easy as possible with free transport to and from the game on Auckland Transport trains and buses which includes the train from Kingsland to Grafton for the Christmas in the Park celebration for those wanting to make a whole evening of it.

“Even the weather forecast is good – everything seems to be aligning for a fabulous afternoon of entertainment.”

Besides the game hosting arguably the best ever Phoenix side in red hot form, it will also fans’ chance to see and win the one off Hobbit strip to celebrate the New Zealand release of The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies.
